Íphael is a planet located in the Orion Belt. It orbits a blue giant in a two-star system.
The planet of Íphael is a colonized world; the planet itself didn’t evolve highly developed intelligent life. As the planet orbits a blue giant—a type of very bright, very hot stars that exist for only a few million years—intelligent life just didn’t have enough time to evolve. Before the Alonians arrived on the planet, the planet had developed animals, plants, and animal-plant-hybrids. The planet is in a state that can be compared to the Carboniferous age on the Earth.

Form of dates:
Birthdays are usually written like this: Úo (count), circle, eki nr., day nr. Sometimes the day nr is left, because on Íphael, the birthday is celebrated on the start of the year, and the day is ignored.
12, Meíyáng, eki Nr., (day Nr.)
The timeline of Íphael is Alonian, as the Alonians were the first to arrive on the planet at 1, Uón, eki 1, day 1.
The circles are not used for every use, for example in calendars or for appointments. In daily life, they are only used for scientific reports, for example in astronomy. In the Realm, birthdays are traditionally written in the form with the uón, circle, and eki. The uón and long-counts are generally not used outside daily use.
We currently are in the 12. Circle of the 4. Uón. The start of the Mûth period coincided with the start of the earth year 2012. However, when the year started on Earth, it was already “summer” on Íphael (the planet does not have any seasons). So the Earth is always a half year behind.
The planet of Íphael is a very young planet with a very ancient civilization—compared to the age of the Earth, the planet Íphael is still somewhere in the Carboniferous age. So, if the landscapes on Íphael seem somewhat like the Carboniferous age, then this is right.
The climate on Íphael is warmer (although the poles are way colder than those on the Earth), and therefore, a vast population of algae exists in the seas of the planet, which produce oxygen, a lot more than on the Earth. This leads to a larger amount of oxygen in Íphael’s atmosphere. A human could walk on Íphael without problems. But if a Pelonian or Alonian were to travel to the Earth, they would need an oxygen supply, especially in combination with physical strain.
The climate is certainly more extreme than on the Earth. The highest temperature measured was about 80 °C in Tehería, and –183 °C at the poles (north: -184 °C, south: -190 °C). Because of its straight axis, the poles are incredibly cold, whilst the “belt” around the planet is hot. The belt actually was formed because of sand melting in the heat, in combination with rough storms that can appear around the belt.
The planet does have several climate zones, the transition to which can be very abrupt. The poles lie in eternal darkness, as the light of the sun is not able to reach them due to the axis of the planet. This leads to large amounts of the planet being not suitable to sustain life, or permanent settlements, although much of the planet is colonized.
The hottest permanently colonized city on Íphael is Éyopan in Tradjuedent in the northern hemisphere. The coldest colonized city on Íphael is Heka in the northern hemisphere.
Winds and storms are ubiquitous on the whole planet. They can become very violent depending on the constellation of the three moons. They can also, because of the high level of oxygen in the atmosphere, trigger Fire Storms (“tsúyo”) that can wreak havoc in the plains and steppe for weeks. There are no buildings made of wood on Íphael because the danger of fire is much more threatening than on the Earth.
The wind, floods, and the high geologic activity also come with erosion, as one can see very clear at the coastlines of Pelonia. The recognized land tongues of the country were formed through erosion because of a wind from the west, and the floods that are triggered through the moons. The Pelonian states of Šelšaia, Šelmith, and Šaia actually loose several inches of land every year because of erosion, but because of the tons of salt that sediment at the coasts, the loss of land is not that large.
Fauna and Flora
As the planet is still very young, and didn’t have the time to evolve complex life like on the Earth, there are still not a lot of big animals on Íphael. Most of the animals on Íphael are insects or plant-animal-hybrids. The only animals that become bigger are reptiles. There are a few mammals on Íphael, but they were brought to the planet when the Alonians colonized it and are not endemic.
Fire is a serious problem on Íphael—in order to the higher amount of oxygen, forest fires can endure for weeks. Lightning, especially in combination with wind, can cause a lot of damage. This is the reason why roofs of Pelonian houses are nearly always rectangular and flat or circular, so the contact surface for wind is smaller.
Lightning can also lead to another dangerous phenomenon on Íphael: the firestorm, also known as Tsúyo. Firestorms can appear all over the planet during thunderstorms.
Another specialty of the planet is its three moons. They cause inclement floods on the planet. This was the reason why the Pelonians decided to build a part of their city Mexalapan beneath the sea surface.
The main way to travel in whole Eqilonia is flying, by chariot, and by spaceship. Chariots are flying objects used to travel within cities, and between cities, whilst spaceships are used to travel internationally and also in outer space.
The Mering, an Alonian spaceship, is one of the most common spaceships that can be used on the planet and for travel between planets and solar systems. The Mering models 3000 until 5000 are the most common ones, with the Mering 8000 being the most modern one.
In Eqilonia, a lot of citizens do possess their own chariot. However, not everybody possesses (or needs) a personal spaceship.
Arikmé Áratray, being one of the most affluent people in Alonia, flies a Qétalon 900, named after the Alonian big cat, one of the fastest and most modern Alonian spaceships available. The number indicates that the brand is rather new, and therefore one of the most modern spaceships.
The most luxurious spaceship available in Eqilonia is the black, Íphaelium-coated Xílith 400, which is made in Táli, Mereille. The spaceship is coated in a black, radiation-repellent metal that is very rare on the planet.
Spaceships are able to fly on light-speed and work with a warp drive device, which allows the flying object to funnel through space creating some kind of very sleek, very unstable wormhole that disappears behind the spaceship the moment it has flown through.
The chariots were invented in Alonia and used in battle. The battle chariots are still used in Eqilonia. They fit only one person that is standing on the object. Larger chariots used for transport in cities fit more than one person and allow the people to sit.
People of Íphael
Eqilonia is very densely populated, but the planet is, in comparison, almost empty. The planet actually does have so many large spaces void of any civilization that you could easily fit the entire population of Earth on the planet and it would still be sparsely populated. There would also still be enough resources, as the planet is about four times larger than the Earth. The reason Eqilonia is so densely populated is that nearly the entire population of the planet lives there. This is because Eqilonia is the hotspot for economy, culture, and civilization on the planet, and because there are actually spaces on the planet that are not suitable for settlement, such as the belt. There are currently about 20 billion people on Íphael, 17 billion of which live in Eqilonia. There are almost no people living outside the large cities; whilst there were villages during the colonization, those villages were almost all abandoned and civilization concentrated in the cities, which grew to jaw-dropping sizes, like Mexalapan, the capital of Pelonia (and Eqilonia), with 90 million citizens. Because the west of Pelonia is a saltpan, people did not have a choice but to settle in the cities, as agriculture would not have been possible in the saltpan. There are three biologically different races living on Íphael; the Pelonians (from Pelangónia), the Alonians (from Alonia), and the Scaleskins (created on Íphael).
